On 13th October 2022, The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) Director of Sustainability, Didier Bergeret, was invited to speak at the Climate Action Summit hosted by the UN Global Compact Network UK about how businesses can take nature positive actions to help deliver on net-zero commitments. In the session entitled “Implementing Nature-based Solutions for Net Positive Business,” Didier shared insights from the actions of the CGF Forest Positive Coalition of Action – a CEO-led initiative of leading manufacturers and retailers working to remove deforestation, forest conversion, and degradation from commodity supply chains. A key element of the Coalition’s strategy is for businesses to invest in production landscapes and support programmes that are driving people, nature, and climate positive outcomes. Didier explained that it will be impossible to reach net-zero without working to end deforestation and drive benefits for nature and biodiversity.

Didier was joined by Dr Sally Uren OBE, Chief Executive, Forum for the Future; João Teixeira, Sustainability Manager, Natura & Co Latam; and Vanessa Maire, Global Head of Regenerative Agriculture, Diageo.

The Forest Positive Coalition was formed in 2020 by The Consumer Goods Forum and brings together 21 of the world’s largest retailers and manufacturers, with a combined market value of around US $2 trillion, to take collective action to remove deforestation, forest conversion and degradation from key commodity supply chains.
