The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) is delighted to a welcome new recruit, CSR expert Thomas van Haaren, to the Sustainability team.

Thomas joins the team, bringing with him a wealth of knowledge on responsible and ethical sourcing, and sustainable business. Replacing Sonja Schmid, who leaves the CGF for an exciting new opportunity, Thomas will be taking on the role of Senior Manager of the Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative, which will launch its first benchmark requirements in Q4.

Originally from New York, Thomas graduated from Cornell University with a Master’s degree in Industrial and Labor Relations and a Bachelor’s degree in History. He began his career at Calvert Investments, a socially responsible investment firm in Washington DC, on the Uzbek cotton campaign which aimed to end forced and child labour in the sector.

Thomas worked with many existing CGF members to advance their responsible sourcing policies as the Senior Account Manager at Sedex and as the Senior Adviser for Responsible Sourcing at the ICTI Ethical Toy Program. Most recently, he held the role of Program Manager for EMEA at the Fair Labor Association.

Welcome to the CGF Thomas!
