Resource Type Case Study

This case study explores how the French supermarket chain Carrefour is recovering and converting food waste from its largest stores into biomethane to fuel its delivery trucks. As of the end of 2019, biomethane was being used to power 332 of its delivery vehicles to reduce Carrefour’s transport and logistics emissions footprint; when combusted, biomethane emits up to 70% less CO2 than traditional fuels and no fine particles.
