The SSCI helps build trust in sustainability standards worldwide by benchmarking schemes against the SSCI Social, Environmental and Scheme Management Criteria, driving alignment among the many different third-party auditing, monitoring and certification schemes that assist companies in their supply chains due diligence. By undergoing benchmarking, schemes signal their commitment to meeting the industry’s expectations on sustainability standards and governance mechanisms.

The Benchmark Process is based on continuous alignment and will therefore have annual assessments to check the continued alignment with the mandatory SSCI Benchmark Requirements on an annual basis (SSCI Integrity Programme). The monitoring is performed by the independent Benchmark Leader (usually who performed the initial benchmark of the Scheme) under the supervision of the SSCI Manager. The steps of the yearly Monitoring of Continued Alignment process are:
SSCI Recognised schemes that have completed more than one year of the MoCA process are now marked with a stamp indicating the number of years they’ve maintained alignment.
