2017-social-didier-at-osce-event-russiaWe are delighted to confirm that Didier Bergeret, our Social Sustainability Director, has been invited to speak at the upcoming “The Public-Private Partnership in the Fight Against Human Trafficking” Conference in Moscow, which runs from 20th-21st July 2017. Organised by the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE), special representative and co-ordinator for combating trafficking in human beings, and in co-operation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation, the two-day event will bring together public, private and government sectors to discuss the eradication of forced labour and human trafficking.

This Conference is an example of the OSCE’s efforts to enhance co-operation between public and private actors in the OSCE area to prevent and combat human trafficking, and Didier’s invitation is yet further recognition for the role The Consumer Goods Forum, and the positive actions of our members, as they make collective strides to eradicate forced labour globally.

The main purpose of the Conference is to discuss ways that governments and the private sector in the OSCE area and beyond can effectively partner to prevent and combat trafficking in human beings and the existing trends, challenges and the opportunities in this regard. International and national legal frameworks and good practices regarding government obligations and business responsibilities on preventing human trafficking will be presented and new trends and developments in this area will be discussed.

The Conference participants will focus not only on public-private partnerships as an effective way to prevent and fight all forms of trafficking in human beings, especially child trafficking and for labour exploitation, but will also debate how private sector knowledge and expertise could assist in providing solutions to the governments’ task to prevent THB, including in the Information and Communication Technologies field.
