NOTPLA is a materials start-up that has developed a biodegradable plastic alternative made from seaweed. The seaweed can grow rapidly, and does not rely on land area to grow, unlike some other bioplastics. Some early products include a Heinz tomato ketchup sachet and compostable takeaway containers with a water- and grease-resistant seaweed lining.
