• Guidelines for thought leadership posts

At the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), we welcome guest authors and sponsored contributors to share fresh perspectives, technical insights, and strategic commentary with our audience.

Our readership consists of high-level food industry professionals, including food safety executives, quality assurance directors, certification programme owners (CPOs), Certification Bodies (CBs), auditors, academics and researchers. These guidelines are designed to help your article perform as effectively as possible with our community.

Content and focus

  • Thought leadership focus: GFSI readers look for educational, inspiring, and forward-looking content. Articles should offer genuine thought leadership, industry commentary, or technical insights rather than a direct sales pitch for a product or service.
  • Front-end labelling: all sponsored articles are transparently tagged as a “Sponsored content” on the website, giving you clear brand visibility while maintaining trust with our audience.
  • Outbound links: to support your sponsorship, you are welcome to include one direct link to your company homepage, specific landing page, or resource page towards the end of the article. Contextual links to non-competing educational or industry references within the body of the article are also welcome.

Style and formatting suggestions

  • We recommend aiming for 800 to 1,200 words, though we are flexible if your topic requires more or less depth to cover thoroughly.
  • Using short paragraphs, descriptive subheadings, and bullet points helps make your post easy and engaging to read across desktop and mobile devices.

Imagery and visuals

Visuals make a big difference in how readers engage with your post.

  • Please provide at least one high-resolution horizontal photo for the article header (minimum 1920×1080 px).
  • We welcome extra photos, infographics, or charts inside the article body whenever they help illustrate your point.
  • Image rights: Please ensure that your team holds the appropriate usage rights, ownership, or licences for all photos and graphics submitted with your article.

Editorial review process

To ensure all published content aligns well with our website design and audience expectations:

  • GFSI reserves the right to make minor formatting updates or request light copy edits from the author prior to publishing.
  • To maintain trust with our community, GFSI reserves the right to decline any submission that does not align with our organisation’s values, editorial standards, or legal guidelines

  1. Your article draft (as a Word document or Google Doc link).
