A Practical Guide to Insetting

The International Platform for Insetting (IPI) defines insetting as GHG reductions or carbon sequestration interventions that are directly related to a company’s value chain. In comparison to offsetting projects, which are financed by market sales of carbon offsets, insetting projects are developed through close collaboration between companies and their supply chain partners, with subsequent exclusive access to the carbon credits produced.

The “Practical Guide to Insetting” from the IPI captures insights and solutions from a decade of experience by members such as Accor, Chanel, H&M Group, Kering, and Nespresso to show how insetting can be implemented throughout a company’s value chain to support a path to net zero emissions.
