At Campbell, we believe in the power of working collectively to facilitate long term, sustainable change. Campbell’s signature philanthropic program, Campbell’s Healthy Communities, is designed on a collective impact approach. Realizing that complex social issues need a diverse set of partners, thought leaders and funding sources, we designed and funded our signature program dedicated to a collective impact philosophy and framework.

At Campbell Soup Company, we have been committed to our communities, employees, consumers and environment for as long as the company has been in existence…almost 150 years! In each of these areas, Campbell’s commitment reflects our company purpose, “Real food that matters for life’s moments.” This purpose guides all the decisions the company makes. Through Community Affairs and the work of the Campbell Soup Foundation, our philanthropic strategies reflect our company purpose and directly build on our Real Food Philosophy which states “Real Food Should be Accessible to All.”

Similarly, as a member of The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), Campbell is aligned with CGF’s  ‘global ambition to empower consumers and employees to live healthier lives and build proof points of business as a force for good’. CGF is bringing this to life locally through its Collaboration for Healthier Lives initiatives of which Campbell is a partner.

When the Health & Wellness pillar of CGF announced a pilot program that would involve community partners including NGO’s, local businesses, the county health department, manufacturers and retailers – fellow partner members of CGF –  to collectively improve population health outcomes of residents in Washington County (Hagerstown, MD), I was all in!

As a manufacturer partner of the ‘One For Good’ pilot we collaborate with Healthy Washington County, incorporating private sector engagement with the local community experts in making change for a healthier lifestyle easier. Specifically, the industry partners are committed to focusing on one thing – healthier baskets leading to healthier lives.

This is an incredibly exciting and novel approach within the private sector to bring industry partners, manufacturers and retailers together around a common agenda with clear measures to help solve a complex social issue. Thanks to the leadership of CGF, we hope to demonstrate that an industry can indeed come together, work with one another as well as with cross sector partners, for the good of the communities where we live and work.

It is an honor to be a member industry partner in one of five global pilots (and the only U.S. pilot) working collaboratively with industry partners and local partners to innovate and create solutions for our employees, consumers, friends and families to live healthier lives.
