Magnit is a leading Russian retailer, with close to 21,000 stores located in more than 3,300 cities and towns across the country and employing close to 300,000 people. Magnit is the largest Russian retailer in scale of operations and private employment. Magnit is a unique company within Russian retail. It operates a multiformat model, which includes convenience stores and supermarkets, drogeries and pharmacies. As the only vertically integrated retailer, Magnit operates 15 agricultural and food production units in various geographies of Russia. These production entities are core in ensuring high quality supply for the company’s private label range and play a vital role in the company’s sustainable local sourcing. Its greenhouses and mushroom complex are one of the largest ones in Eastern Europe. Magnit is also a leading logistics operator in the Russian retail sector. The company owns 38 distribution centres in the country and our 6,000 trucks make Magnit one of the largest fleet owners in Europe. Magnit was founded in the South of Russia, Krasnodar, in 1994. It has developed from a small regional private company 25 years ago to one of the most prominent food retailers in Russia today with almost 12 million daily customer visits. Through an IPO process, Magnit became a public company in 2006 and is traded on both the Moscow and London Stock Exchanges (MGNT). According to audited IFRS results for 2018 financial year, Magnit’s revenue amounted to US$ 19.7 bn, EBITDA – to US$ 1.4 bn.
