PARIS, 11th January 2015 – For the first time, the flagship food safety event of the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI), gathering 1,000 food industry leaders annually, is going to Asia in 2015 after 13 successful editions in Europe and North America.

Asia, a Strategic Region for Food Safety

Many companies are increasing their operations in the ASEAN region. Meanwhile, the GFSI approach is increasingly becoming embedded in their sourcing strategies. The GFSI Board has therefore decided to bring its annual event to Asia in 2015 in order to communicate GFSI’s objectives to a wider audience and engage them in our work. The Board selected Kuala Lumpur, as an important Asian hub, for this event.
What makes the GFSC a Must-Attend

The GFSI Global Food Safety Conference is a unique annual event that enables delegates to take the GFSI approach home with them and translate it into improved food safety in their business. What brings them to the GFSC is the opportunity to meet and network with industry peers, exchange best-practices, and take in disruptive talks by renowned speakers. At the end of the day, the GFSC 2015 is about taking the responsibility of collaborating efficiently in order to provide safer food to 7 billion consumers around the world.

Best-in-class Speakers and Hands-on Programme

Under the theme “Food Safety: a Shared Responsibility”, this year’s Programme addresses hot topics in our industry from both global and regional (APAC) angles.

  • In addition to the speaker lineup reflecting the diversity of the food industry, the Programme also offers a complete “Farm to Fork” Discovery Tour Discovery designed to give delegates an insight into how food safety is managed in local supply chains.
  • The event also includes the annual GFSI Stakeholder Meeting, an open interactive forum with food safety stakeholders.
  • The Meeting exemplifies GFSI’s approach to working with and for the industry to turn collective concerns into collaborative solutions.

About The Global Food Safety Initiative

The Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) is a business-driven initiative for the continuous improvement of food safety management systems to ensure confidence in the delivery of safe food to consumers worldwide. GFSI was launched in 2000 following a number of food safety crises when consumer confidence was at an all-time low. Its collaborative approach to food safety brings together international food safety experts from the entire food supply chain at technical working group and stakeholder meetings, conferences and regional events to share knowledge and promote a harmonized approach to managing food safety across the industry.
