The Consumer Goods Forum is pleased to announce that, for the second year in a row, it is an official partner of the upcoming Sustainable Brands conference in Madrid from the 7th to 9th May 2017. In addition to this partnership, Didier Bergeret, the CGF Director of Social Sustainability, will also be speaking at the event about advancements the consumer goods industry has made tackling forced labour.

This year’s conference theme is “Activating Purpose” – building and maintaining purpose-driven organisations that hold sustainability as one of their core values. Having sustainability embedded throughout business practices is not only necessary to be truly competitive in today’s challenging markets but it is also essential to drive positive change and ultimately achieve the better world we all collectively seek.

Didier will be presenting during a session dedicated to addressing human rights in the value chain through collective collaboration, sharing key insights on CGF’s forced labour work including the first-ever industry commitment on the topic and the recently announced Priority Industry Principles: three actionable principles which focus on tackling the core drivers of forced labour. The CGF is a strong believer in the critical role collaboration plays in addressing the world’s most pressing sustainability issues, including forced labour.

The event will bring together over 500 professionals from across Europe and the US to discuss the latest developments in sustainability and how companies are participating in and shaping this journey. Attendees come from a variety of backgrounds – NGOs, academic institutions, multinationals, governments, investors and more – all sharing the passion of transforming businesses in order to shift the world towards a sustainable economy. The partnership will provide the CGF an opportunity to further engage with prominent sustainability actors and provide support to companies looking to learn more about how to implement sustainable practices in their own businesses.

The conference will be held at La N@ve in Madrid, Spain. La N@ve is the centre of inspiration, education and open innovation with which the City of Madrid will transform the economic and social future of citizens. The event is support by the Madrid City Hall and by the UK Government, this year’s guest country.
