Board and Committee Leadership

Our Plastic Waste Coalition of Action is currently Co-Sponsored at the Board level by Galen Weston, CEO of Loblaw, and Alexis Perakis-Valat, Consumer Products Division President of L’Oréal. As Board sponsors they actively drive and support the work of the Coalition members and present the team’s progress to their peers during our bi-annual Board of Directors meetings.

The Coalition Committee provides the strategic direction and oversees the daily management of the CGF’s activities on plastics. The Committee is currently co-chaired by Barry Parkin, Mars, Incorporated, and Rob Nicol, Walmart. The role of co-chairs is to hold the wider group together, driving its progress, dismantling roadblocks and correcting the course where needed.

The Committee is made up of highly motivated companies that have chosen to accelerate progress towards the New Plastics Economy and commit greater action and resources. Their mission is to drive the different workstreams on “Golden Rules” for packaging design, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR), advanced recycling and developing strategic partnerships in priority markets.

Sustainability in the Regions: Japan

The CGF is focusing its regionalisation strategy on bringing more focus to sustainability challenges in order to help drive sustainable business actions globally.  This effort gained momentum in October 2017 with the launch of the Japan Sustainability Local Group. The Group showcases how our Japanese members are committed to addressing today’s sustainability challenges through the implementation of the CGF’s sustainability resolutions and is actively working on both the environmental and social sustainability agendas of the CGF. Both local members and multinational companies collaborate on these global and regional sustainability agendas in Japan.  To learn more, read the launch press release or contact our Tokyo office.
