Learning From Each Other to Deliver Impact at Scale

The Global Learning Mechanism is a key element of the work led by The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Collaboration for Healthier Lives (CHL) Coalition, which aims to empower people to lead healthier lives while creating shared value for business and communities. We work to make a positive impact in stores, in communities, through digital innovations and enabling healthier workforces.

Global Learning Mechanism (GLM)

The Global Learning Mechanism is the online platform that will enable us all to learn from each other on how to best deliver real impact, at scale for healthier lives. It is a one-stop, open access database for all information on health-related activities being led by the consumer goods industry and associated stakeholders across the globe.

Content

The CGF has partnered with members and other key experts to build and develop content for the platform and for the benefit of its users. Our founding partners include BCG, Capgemini, KPMG, Nielsen and Oliver Wyman.

The platform also includes CEOs perspectives, case studies on industry actions, reports and recommendations about local collectives’ initiatives, Covid-19 tracker, as well as learnings and new norms for our industry to impact healthier lives. The focus of the platform is to share the case for change, the path for scale, the approach to financial sustainability and to enable us all to set up new business practices.

Going Forward

There is a critical need for collective industry action to protect the health and safety of people and communities across the globe and create shared business value. Now, more than ever, health and wellness has been thrust to the top of private and public sector agendas.

The Global Learning Mechanism is a live platform that will be constantly updated with the latest health-related information, and includes reports and recommendations about our local CHL collective initiatives around the world.

The CHL Coalition would like to encourage all stakeholders – retailers, manufacturers, public authorities, NGOs, academics, etc – to stretch their thinking around what is possible to support people in living healthier. We aim to inspire companies to scale within their own operations and put health and wellbeing at the core of their strategic agenda and social purpose. We thank all members and partners who continue to contribute their resources and we look forward to sharing the latest insights and learnings on health and wellbeing from across the globe.

If you would like to contribute resources to the Global Learning Mechanism platform, please see the Content Management Principles.

Addressing Global Health and Wellbeing Challenges & Empowering People to Live Healthier Lives

For years, The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) has been a pioneer in bringing key cross-sector stakeholders together to tackle some of the biggest challenges facing the industry today. The CGF’s Collaboration for Healthier Lives (CHL) is committed to driving collective industry action to protect the health and safety of people and communities across the globe and create shared business value. Health and wellbeing has been thrust to the top of private and public sector agendas, and people across the globe are increasingly looking for effective solutions to address their health issues. They are seeking products that are not only better for their health, but also better for the planet. Meanwhile, organisations need the latest information and are looking to their peers across sectors for insights, support and partnerships. While the commitment of key industry players, large and small, has led to considerable progress, global health remains a huge challenge for which collaboration is essential to tackle urgent health crises and drive positive change.

Sharing Insights to Drive Transformation at Scale

Collective knowledge, data and best-practice sharing is fundamental in moving towards the goal of driving behaviour change and empowering healthier people in communities around the globe, while ensuring value for the stakeholders that take up the challenge to positively impact people’s health. The Global Learning Mechanism (GLM) has been created in response to this vital need for key stakeholders with an interest in health. The GLM is the one-stop open access database for all information on health-related activities being led by the consumer goods industry and associated stakeholders across the globe. This go-to digital platform, gathering the most up-to-date and relevant content on work around health and wellness being undertaken by CGF members and stakeholders around the world, will be unique resource. From the latest innovations and insights from the CGF’s Collaboration for Healthier Lives Coalition of Action, employee health, in-store interventions, digital activations, and beyond, the GLM is to be leveraged to drive transformation at scale.

The GLM Ambition

Through the GLM, we aim to extend learning opportunities for the health and wellness community across the globe, through the sharing of key resources and insights. Our ambition will be achieved through members and partners actively sharing resources, in line with the GLM Project Charter commitments.

How it Works

  • The GLM is an open access repository: a digital database where the content is freely available to download and reuse (sometimes with restrictions).
  • No login or subscription is required to access the platform and download content (some third-party content may direct you to another website).
  • It is a searchable database whereby users can find the latest insights, results and case studies of work being undertaken by CGF members and collaborators around the world.
  • A robust search engine together with an extensive tagging system ensure the wide variety of multimedia and html content (reports, toolkits, videos, etc.) are easy to find by users.
  • The GLM community provides access that allows CHL stakeholders to interact with each other, as part of a global knowledge and best practice sharing community.
