Amazon joins The Consumer Goods Forum's Human Rights Coalition of Action

The Consumer Goods Forum welcomes Amazon as the newest member of its Human Rights Coalition of Action. With a global workforce of over 1.5 million people, Amazon brings significant reach and operational scale to the Coalition.

Leading a new working group on data and AI for human rights

As part of its participation, Amazon will help lead a new working group within the Coalition focused on leveraging data and artificial intelligence (AI) to improve how companies identify, prioritise, and respond to human rights risks.

Amazon brings direct operational experience to this effort, having developed and piloted predictive AI models trained on tens of thousands of historical social audits. In testing, these models achieved 90% recall, successfully flagging approximately nine out of ten high-risk supplier sites, enabling teams to prioritise audits and focus resources where risks are greatest.

Amazon’s system accurately interprets risk in the context of a supplier’s region and industry sector, aiming to produce actionable insights and enable more effective risk assessment, audit processing, and decision-making across our complex supplier network.

“Joining the Consumer Goods Forum’s Human Rights Coalition and launching the Human Rights AI Working Group reflects Amazon’s ongoing work to advance human rights through more effective due diligence and risk management. AI is a critical tool that we believe can be leveraged to improve our ability to identify and respond to human rights risks. Multisector partnership will be critical to advancing these capabilities and we look forward to working with Coalition members to develop practical approaches to human rights due diligence.” – Leigh Anne DeWine, Director Human Rights and Social Impact, Amazon

“We are delighted to welcome Amazon to the Human Rights Coalition of Action. Amazon’s commitment to respecting human rights and strengthening responsible business practices makes them a valuable addition to our global network of industry leaders.” – Didier Bergeret, Sustainability Director, The Consumer Goods Forum
