The Consumer Goods Forum announces Managing Director transition

Paris, France, September 30, 2026. After six years as Managing Director, Wai-Chan Chan has decided to step down from The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF), and has agreed a transition plan with the Co-Chairs. He will continue to lead CGF through its Board meeting on 17 November, and will then support an orderly transition while the Board’s Governance Committee leads the search for his successor.

Wai-Chan joined CGF in May 2020, in the first months of the pandemic. Under his leadership, CGF has returned to financial strength, grown its membership across the world and particularly in Asia, established strong regional Boards in China and Latin America, repositioned its strategy around the Coalitions of Action, grown the Global Summit, and developed a more representative Board.

Ken Murphy and Max Koeune, Co-Chairs: “Wai-Chan took on CGF at one of the most challenging moments in its history, and he leaves it stronger, more relevant and financially secure. He has been a trusted partner to the Board and to CEOs across our membership, and we are grateful for everything he has built.”

Wai-Chan Chan: “Leading CGF has been a privilege. I am proud of what the team has achieved together: turning the organisation around and setting a clear direction for its next phase. With that foundation in place, this is the right moment to hand on. Next, I will be building a portfolio of board, advisory and investment roles across consumer, retail and sport, bridging Europe and Asia, and I look forward to sharing more in the coming months.

I want to thank all of our members, partners and staff for your hard work and commitment to the success of the CGF and for your support throughout my time as Managing Director. I have full confidence that you will continue to deliver great things.”
