Alongside event partner Champions 12.3, CGF Director of Environmental Sustainability, Ignacio Gavilan, will be joining CGF Board members for an event entitled “Reducing Food Loss and Waste: Advancing the Agenda” in New York. The event will be held on the morning of 20th September at the Rockerfeller Foundation and coincides with Climate Week NYC 2017.

Each year, one-third of the world’s food is lost or wasted, emitting 8 percent of greenhouse gases and costing the global economy $940 billion. Sustainable Development Goal Target 12.3 addresses this issue, calling on the world to cut in half per capita global food waste by 2030. To accelerate this process the CGF developed a Resolution in 2015 to halve food waste within the operations of its 400 retailer and manufacturer members by 2025.

Join us for this key event that will assess global progress toward Target 12.3 and mark out a road to success. To this end, The Consumer Goods Forum and Champions 12.3 will make an exciting announcement regarding date labelling, part of our joint food waste initiative, during the event.
