At the end of September, The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Latin American team spoke at the Latin America Food Waste and Loss Summit (Cumbre Latinoamericana de Pérdidas y Desperdicios de Alimentos) organized by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nation (FAO), the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) and the #SinDesperdicio (#NoWaste) partners. Attended by almost 1,100 delegates from different countries across the region (Costa Rica, Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Uruguay), the event brought together experts from business, government, public sector and academia, to accelerate the implementation of an agenda of FWL in the region.

During the event, Erika Rodriguez, General Manager of the CGF’s Latin America Office was part of the panel moderated by FAO about “Global Initiatives” presenting the FWL CGF resolution and the work of CGF members. She also moderated a panel alongside some CGF member companies – Bimbo, Nutresa, Grupo Exito and Unilever – who shared their implementation success stories, as well as their experiences of collaborative work as part of the CGF.

This is one of the first steps of CGF LatAm in the implementation of CGF Sustainability agenda in the region, and we are delighted to see the strong interest, commitment and support of our members to start a collaborative work on this topic.
