Paris, 3 March 2026, The Consumer Goods Forum’s (CGF) Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative (SSCI) announced that the amfori Business Social Compliance Initiative (BSCI) has received official SSCI recognition.
Created in 2003, amfori BSCI conducts approximately over 40,000 social compliance audits per year in more than 120 countries, supporting businesses to meet their social due diligence needs. Through offering companies audit solutions that support responsible business practices, amfori BSCI’s recognition signals ongoing mitigation of social risks across supply chains.
Recognition of amfori BSCI also provides an added layer of assurance for companies seeking reliable social compliance programmes. It confirms alignment with the SSCI Benchmark Criteria, helping businesses make informed, independent decisions on ethical and responsible practices across global supply chains.
amfori has implemented several actions to upgrade its amfori BSCI code of conduct through its benchmarking journey, including:
- Increased transparency by publicly disclosing key governance, grievance, and system revision procedures.
- Strengthened governance and oversight through updated Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), liability arrangements, and data management practices.
- Enhanced audit quality through improved risk-based sampling, clearer review processes, and stronger corrective-action requirements.
- Introduced new social protections for primary production and used interim measures to implement critical requirements without delay.
Linda Kromjong, amfori President said, “The Consumer Goods Forum plays an important role for amfori, and our collaboration through The Consumer Goods Forum’s Sustainable Supply Chain Initiative further strengthens supply chain risk assessment and risk management and supports more sustainable trade.”
Didier Bergeret, Director of Sustainability at The Consumer Goods Forum, said, “Official recognition by the SSCI highlights amfori BSCI’s dedication to transparency, robust governance, and effective measures to support responsible social practices throughout global supply chains.”
amfori BSCI’s SSCI recognition under both the Manufacturing & Processing and Primary Production scopes confirms its alignment with the SSCI Social Benchmark. By undergoing the SSCI Benchmarking Process, amfori BSCI demonstrates its commitment to strengthening trust and supporting responsible social practices across global supply chains, providing companies with additional information to inform their independent sustainability decisions.
To date, SSCI has recognised 11 schemes, with five more programmes currently undergoing the benchmarking process. For more information about the SSCI, please visit www.tcgfssci.com or contact the SSCI team at [email protected].
