The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) is pleased to announce the appointment of Ashley C. Hall, Director of Sustainable Packaging at Walmart, as the new Co-Chair of its Plastic Waste Coalition of Action, succeeding Rob Nicol, who has served in the role since the Coalition’s launch in 2020. Ashley will serve alongside the current Co-Chair, Mario Abreu, Chief Sustainability Officer at Ferrero, guiding the Coalition in its mission to promote and support the transition to a circular economy for plastic packaging.

“Plastic waste is no longer just an environmental issue — it is a material economic risk,” said Cedric Déver, Director of the CGF’s Plastic Waste Coalition. “With only 10% of the 160 million tonnes of plastic packaging waste generated each year being recycled, the potential to preserve value and reduce impact is enormous. Ashley’s leadership will be instrumental in helping the Coalition support meaningful change across the industry.”

Ashley brings two decades of extensive experience in waste and packaging, including over 10 years dedicated to sustainable packaging and innovation at Walmart. She will play a key role in guiding the Coalition’s efforts to advance circularity, support the growing global policy landscape, and provide a range of stakeholders with tools for taking action.

“Brands and retailers stand at a unique intersection where our influence can drive meaningful change in the lifecycle of plastics.”, said Ashley. “The Coalition’s focus —spanning design innovation, policy engagement, and reuse systems—is the catalyst for impact. To address the issue of plastic waste, we must continue to create solutions that move us toward a circular economy.”

The CGF welcomes Ashley to her new role and looks forward to the impact her leadership will bring in promoting the industry shift toward a circular future for plastics.

The CGF would also like to thank Rob Nicol, Vice President Corporate Affairs at Walmart Canada, for his leadership and dedication as outgoing Co-Chair of the Coalition. Under Rob’s guidance the Coalition has made significant strides in promoting circularity for plastic packaging. His commitment has laid a strong foundation for continued progress in tackling plastic waste.
