The Consumer Goods Forum (CGF) together with the Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) have published a convening paper on workforce nutrition. The paper reports on the discussions and outcomes of the Better Nutrition for a Healthier Workforce workshop co-hosted by the CGF and GAIN on 3rd and 4th July 2019 in Geneva, Switzerland.

The aim of the workshop was to achieve consensus on the why, what and how of improving employee nutrition, by addressing the main challenges around workforce nutrition, sharing best practices and learnings regarding implementation of programmes in the workplace, and looking to the future to seek shared opportunities. The workshop was in line with the CGF’s Health & Wellness Pillar’s leadership agenda, Collaboration for Healthier Lives, in which caring for employees around the world is a key focus area.

A broad range of stakeholders who are actively involved in workforce nutrition programmes attended the workshop and the main outcome was the formation of a CGF and GAIN led strategic alliance to put workforce nutrition on the global agenda, including at the Tokyo 2020 Nutrition for Growth summit. Public commitments towards workforce nutrition were made by several workshop participants, either on behalf of their organisation or as individuals.
