The Consumer Goods Forum’s End-to-End Value Chain group had an eventful week of meetings and workshops last month from the 24th to 28th October 2022 beginning with the Supply Chain Conference in Amsterdam and ending with an Accelerated Solutions Environment (ASE) Workshop with Capgemini in Utrecht.

The group began the week with a Technical Tour where delegates got to experience the best of the supply chain scene, on-site in  Amsterdam with the most relevant Dutch players. At APM Terminals (part of A.P.Moller-Maersk), the supply chain experts got to discover the technology of modern shipping containers and at Vanderlande how fresh produce is managed, prepped and shipped via automation for consumption. Delegates were happy to get up close with the machinery, cargo ships and personnel working on-site to move the supply chain forward.

Through plenary, cocktail and networking sessions, the 1st edition of the 2022 Supply Chain Conference brought together supply chain, product data experts and other key stakeholders such as service providers and academics for three days of valuable insights and learnings on topics such as the VUCA supply chain, SmartCity, sustainability, ESG reporting, data transparency, supply chain volatility and warehouse automation. The group then gathered together for a brainstorming session, led by Ruediger Hagedorn, Director End-to-End Value Chain, The Consumer Goods Forum, and Bram van Schijndel, CEO, Pure Value. In a very participative session, delegates were able to share what are the pain points in their supply chain business and solutions to them, such as collaborating 2-way data sharing between supplier and retailers; enhancing visibility, connectivity, and productivity; creating frameworks to work together; and thinking of how to integrate sustainability into supply chain operations. Maintaining a workshop mindset – ready to tackle the hard issues, part of the group moved to Utrecht to take part in an ASE workshop hosted by Capgemini to define the future roadmap of the CGF’s Product Data coalition and the impact delivered to the industry. On the agenda were Leapfrog Initiatives like Verified by GS1 and the future vision of Smart Packaging and DataPorts – identifying their business value and driving mass adoption. Outputs from the session will be shared with the CGF Board of Directors in December 2022 to determine next steps.
