It’s no coincidence that we have picked Kyoto as the destination for our 2023 Global Summit. Japan has a long and rich history and is globally renowned for its food culture, industry and innovation. Japan’s leading retailers are highly sophisticated – particularly in technology and electronics – mirroring the Japanese consumer, who is at the vanguard of 21st century shopping.

This year we have two options for discovering Kyoto. Delegates who sign up can choose between a store tour or an innovation tour. Both action-packed full-day tours will take place on Tuesday 6th June 2023 and you can only choose one option.

Join our store tour and take a journey right into the heart of tomorrow’s retail world. Kyoto features a unique retail mix where innovation retail co-exists alongside stores with centuries of history selling traditional Kyoto crafts or specialty foods.

Join the innovation tour to delve deeply into the topics of wellbeing, food safety, and sustainability. Learn how Japan uses cutting edge technologies to combat global challenges such as global warming and help eradicate hunger and poverty. Participants will visit a factory, a research centre as well as food shops.
